OverView:
This position is located at Banner Thunderbird Hospital in Phoenix and will draw all patient ages for a variety of testing in a high volume, inpatient environment. This position wil work 40 hours a week with rotation through weekends and will work 7AM to 3:30PM with overtime as necessary and requires a High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience working in an inpatient envrionment is preferred. IMPORTANT NOTE: ONLY COMPLETED AND UP TO DATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED.

Responsibilities:
Performs specimen collection, ensuring correct patient and specimen identification and specimen integrity by using appropriate techniques for all age criteria as required.Enters and verifies patient demographics, location, physician data, tests requested, time and date of collection, appropriate clinical information, and all other pertinent data found on requisitions as required for processing and billing. Verifies accuracy of entered information. Verifies appropriateness of specimens received.Communicates courteously and professionally with internal and external customers. Interacts with co-workers with an emphasis on teamwork and a focus on customer service. Resolves basic service issues as necessary.Aliquots and labels specimens according to established departmental procedures and practices, delivers specimens to the technical area in a timely manner and/or performs initial processing and preparation of samples for transport.

Qualifications:
- Minimum age requirement of 18.- Must be a high school graduate, or have achieved equivalency through the GED exam.- Previous experience of at least six months in a clinical laboratory setting OR completion of a phlebotomy school.- Must exhibit a high level of personal maturity and responsibility. Good reading, writing and math abilities are required. Oral and written communication skills sufficient to understand written and spoken instructions.- Good organizational skills are also required. Basic knowledge of department resource materials.- Basic computer skills required. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
