| | | Job Description | | Technical support for research staff conducting experiments in a biomedical neuroscience research laboratory which performs cutting edge research on neurodegenerative/neuropsychiatric diseases and their treatment. This position includes close interaction with the Principal Investigators and Senior Technicians on executing studies of molecular and cellular aspects of psychiatric diseases, neurodegeneration and cellular regeneration and repair. The Applicant works independently and/or closely with other internal and external collaborators on these projects and relevant studies oriented toward molecular and cellular biology of stem cells, neurogenesis, neuronal cell function, virus-mediated gene engineering, and application in animal models of neurodegenerative diseases and psychiatric disorders. Applicant's duties will include learning and performing a variety of standard molecular biology, biochemical, and cell culture techniques, including the generation of lentivirus vectors, stem cell-derived neurogenesis, analysis of gene expression profiles, immunostaining procedures, animal surgical procedures, and providing additional support with animal husbandry. Other responsibilities include general laboratory maintenance, basic statistical analyses, maintaining databases, and data analysis as required. Familiarity with molecular nd cellular techniques as well as light microscopy is a plus. | | Skills/Abilities/Competencies | | Successful candidate must be possess basic computer skills in order to use a variety of electronic systems to access and/or maintain personal employment-related data, satisfy required annual trainings, and use job-specific applications | | Qualifications | | BS in a biological/physical science required.
