OverView:
Under the direction of the Head of the Research Center or Laboratory and the supervision of the Research Associate, with limited latitude for independent decision making within limits delegated by Head, the Research Assistant will assist the laboratory personnel in performing routine laboratory procedures. The person in this position must be trained and capable of performing basic laboratory techniques, interpreting scientific data and writing laboratory reports as required
Responsibilities:
1. Perform various basic laboratory techniques such as tissue cutting, processing, immunohistochemistry, gels, buffers, etc.2. Has basic understanding in the use of appropriate lab equipment and procedures.3. Responsible for maintaining current laboratory knowledge.4. Perform other duties to assist researchers, such as labware preparation and cleaning, ordering and maintaining lab supplies.5. Performs duties for on-call brain donation program as required.Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Banner Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our Performance Standards each and every day. Banner's Performance Standards include: Safety, Attitude, Responsiveness, Communication, Comfort, Privacy, Appearance, Teamwork, and Accountability.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Incumbent must be currently studying towards a science/chemistry B.S. degree. Must be able to follow instructions and protocols. Incumbent must maintain absolute confidentiality regarding specimens and the findings associated with the laboratory functions. Ability to communicate sufficiently to perform duties in a manner consistent with departmental scope of services and standards. Must be able to maintain good rapport with departmental personnel.
